Laine is an Investigative Medium, award-winning writer, speaker, and author of several books including the New York Times Bestseller and  Amazon #1 Bestseller, Investigative Medium––the Awakening, about her own true story. Laine moved to a Maryland plantation and awakened suddenly psychic, talking to the spirit of a slave buried in her yard.

As the daughter of renowned Atlanta Civil War author and historian, C.P. Crosby, Laine spent her childhood cataloging cemeteries and assisting her father with genealogical research. Her passion for intrigue and true crime was deeply influenced by her mother, a World War II decoder for the FBI, and her father’s distinguished career in the Army and CIA.

After two decades building a successful career in marketing and public relations, Laine’s life took an unexpected turn when she discovered her psychic abilities while living on an 18th-century plantation.

Laine developed a love of history and writing early in life. Laine now works with law enforcement, forensic scientists, detectives, missing persons networks, historians, and archaeologists to find out what history has not revealed.

Laine has appeared on Ghost Brothers: Haunted Households and Mysterious Journeys on the Travel Channel, along with other shows such as My Ghost Story Caught on Camera on the Biography Channel, FYI, and Travel Channel networks. She has been highlighted in publications such as The Washington Post, The San Francisco Chronicle, and numerous other local and national newspapers, radio shows, and television segments.

Her work has also been showcased in books by historians Dennis Hocker and Mark Nesbitt, a true-crime anthology by Detective Lee Lofland, and works by authors including forensic psychologist Dr. Katherine Ramsland. Laine also consults with production companies developing paranormal shows for national cable television networks.

Laine began her professional writing career at the age of sixteen as a student editor for the Purple Cow, an Atlanta monthly. She earned an Economics degree from Agnes Scott College, an MBA from Georgia State University, and completed additional graduate business studies at Georgia Tech, the University of London, and the University of Tours.

Her corporate career spanned two decades in the capacity of director/vice president, building businesses, positioning brands, and launching products and programs for major corporations and start-up companies including The Weather Channel, Wachovia, Coca-Cola, and Georgia Tech’s Advanced Technology Development Center.

Laine is also a freelance writer, having written for historical, local, and women's shelter magazines. However, she is passionate about fighting financial crime, and now she predominately writes about banking and financial crimes, scams, and anti-money laundering topics.  She currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the leading national magazine focused on risk, compliance, and financial crimes in the banking industry.

Laine lives in the Washington, D.C. area.
